Running-Count Wagering
The Hi-Low number you keep updating round after round as the cards fall has come to be known as the “running count” (RC). Although the RC always tells you whom the odds favor before any particular hand, it does not always indicate to what degree or how much the advantage is. Many beginning counters make money consistently (playing in single-deck games primarily) by merely ranging their bets in direct proportion to the RC whenever it is positive. This method, known as running-count wagering, is used successfully in conjunction with BS alone. It is an easy yet very effective counting system to implement. For the casual blackjack player it may be a completely satisfactory winning strategy in itself.
