Stakes
Take to the casino no more than 20% of your bankroll for use during any one session or playing period. This amount is known as your playing “stake.” By physically limiting yourself to only one-fifth of your total bankroll, you are less likely to “chase” the inevitable losses that occur from time to time. Regardless of how bad a single session may be, you will never run the risk of being financially or emotionally devastated by it, since you will have lost only a small portion of your whole blackjack bankroll. A playing stake should be about fifty times the minimum wager you normally make, thereby allowing you to ride out all but the wildest of storms. If you plan to play only at a $2 table, you should bring to the casino no more than $100 as your stake for that session.
