The Basic Strategy

If you learn only one thing from this blog, the proper basic strategy (BS) is definitely what it should be. Knowing how to play every possible hand with the odds in your favor is unquestionably the single most important skill for any player to master. This ability alone allows you to at least break even, whenever you play the game, practically anywhere in the world. Do yourself this huge favor: Memorize the BS so that you can play blackjack for the rest of your life without worrying about handing over any of your hard-earned cash to the casinos unnecessarily. Whenever you do lose a hand, or even an entire session, just knowing that you played it 100% properly will help ease your frustration. There are few worse feelings in blackjack than those that surface after losing hands you suspect you may have played incorrectly, simply because you were unsure of the best thing to do. This chapter can eliminate those gnawing doubts forever.
Unfortunately, BS takes a few hours of study to master. It is the hardest single thing you will learn about blackjack. More difficult than counting, or any other aspect of the game, BS is nevertheless the foundation of all professional play.
